A public service reminder
Proper gun control is the most effective wayto get your bullet to the correct destination.
Here are some tips:
1) Practice shooting positions, especially field positions.
2) Know your sights. Only one alignment will bring perfect results.
3) Breathe calmly and deeply, exhale, then hold for the trigger squeeze
4)Know your trigger, squeeze it slowly and firmly.

From ignoramus to BFF in one easy lesson
I am sure by now you have seen the pictures of Obama and Hugo Chavez. Or perhaps you haven't, seeing as how the damaging stuff stays out of the mainstream media reports, but in case you haven't seen the (figurative)"group hug" between Obama and Chavez, here it is! I don't know how you feel about the love here, but I can definitely tell you what I think about it.
Where to begin... he has refered to our previous President as "the devil", he has nationalized his entire country, and concentrated the power in his country with himself. He is nothing more than a dictator. Then he gives (in front of all the cameras, of course) Obama a book "which documents centuries of American abuse in the region.", according to CNN. Well, isn't that special. Making nice with this guy is nothing to joke about... except for Obama who said: "I think it's just that President Chavez is better at positioning the cameras."
I have said it before and I will say it again... it's going to be a LONG 4 years!

Don't know much about history...
Well, last week President Obama was in Mexico, and had some interesting things to say (as usual). I am looking for the exact quote, but it was something along the lines of Mexico and the United States both being democracies. I really do wish Obama would stop referring to the United States as a democracy. We are NOT a democracy. But I started to think that if he DOES think we are, it explains quite alot. Like his (incorrect) assumption that whatever the majority in the country want, well, that will be the rule. He also seems to think he has received a mandate to change this country into the image HE has always wanted it to be, not what the Constitution says, or what the rule of law says. This is, indeed a dangerous path to take. Laws were put in place to protect the individual from the rule of the mob. A democracy is like 3 wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner. Pretty soon you have the French Revolution!

Doing my part to stimulate the economy
I have been out today doing my part to stimulate the economy by buying a new Glock .40. The 5.5 lb trigger pull is definitely better for me than the 8 + lb pull on the S&W .40. Shot a few rounds when we got home, and think, all in all it was a great addition.

A pat on the back
There has been a bright spot in this last week, and I need to give credit where it is due. I am, of course referring to the rescue of Captain Phillips from the Somali Pirates. Thank God for Navy Seals, and for Obama turning them loose to show the rest of the world that we do NOT negotiate with terrorists. We have the best military in the world, and I am glad they were given the chance to show it!
Back in the USSA
There was lots of talk, back during the presidential campaign about government intrusion, loss of privacy, and a general feeling of "Big Brotherness". The mainstream media told us day after day that we were all just paranoid, and had no reason whatsoever to fear the increasing intrusion of the government into our lives. The government, we were told, only has our best interest at heart. Well, now the current administration has decided it is more important to be scared of American citizens that show signs of "extremism", than it is to protect us from enemies that want to wipe us from the face of the earth! If you want to read whether YOU are considered a danger to be recruited into an extremist organization, you can read the report here: http://www.freedomalliance.org/. You should be afraid... very afraid!
Apparently, if you believe in the sanctity of human life, oppose abortion, are a veteran with skills and knowledge derived from military training , own firearms, buy ammunition and consider efforts to infringe on our 2nd Amendment rights to be unconstitutional, are concerned about the economy, higher taxes, illegal immigration, and soaring unemployment, you are an extremist too!
But lets look at it logically for a moment. (By the way, haven't we been told since September 12, 2001 that profiling is wrong? I guess it depends on Who you are profiling!) If DHS says these are the people to worry about, who is OK???? Pro choice, metrosexuals who are afraid of guns, don't care about unemployment, are unconcerned about the security of our borders, and not at all worried about taxes, since they don't pay any?
Sorry, but the Obama administration owns this travesty! This is what your government thinks of you. I guess this is part of that "change" we heard so much about!

Sorry seems to be the hardest word (well, not for Obama!)
I am watching to see if we have a repeat of the "Apologizing for America" tour that Obama recently completed in Europe. I am curious to see how many times he apologizes for me to the Mexican government. Something makes me think it might be even worse!

TEA'd off!
Welcome to what I hope will be the first of many blog posts. I confess to listening to LOTS of news, mostly on the radio (I can't remember the last time I watched the news on TV though), and reading numerous web sites, mostly of the conservative variety. I think the media is increasingly trying to portray this country as hopelessly divided, left and right, democrat or republican, Bush-haters and Obama haters, conservative and liberal. I think it is much more complicated than that, however. This only serves to distract normally intelligent people from solutions. Sometimes things are just wrong, and need to be pointed out. Which brings me to the subject of my first post: Tea parties.
Yesterday was an amazing day, in my opinion. It has been quite a long time since I have seen so many people gather together for a common purpose, telling the tax and spend government that enough is enough! The media likes to portray these tea parties as some fringe, anti government movement (if you want to know what I mean, check out this), but I think they are very wrong. And, I think Americans have a right to be protest the unchecked spending, unheard of increases in the national debt, and the tax hikes that surely must follow to pay for all of this. Liberals in Congress are working overtime to absolve as many voters as possible for paying any income tax at all, and taxing the remaining productive members of society to death to pay for it all.
I will leave you with a few numbers to think about: If you make over $92,000 (approximately), you are in the top 10% of wage earners in the country. Congratulations! To reward your hard work, production and long work hours, you get to pay 72.4% of the total taxes collected by the government! If you are in the bottom 60% of wage earners, you make (as a group) 26% of all income, but pay only 6% of the total taxes collected by the federal government. I think if I was in the first group, I might be looking at ways to move to the second group.
Luckily, there is a solution.... FairTax anyone?
